Cupid Stupid

I didn't have much expectation for CS but I thought it would be interesting to watch Steven Ma and Tavia Yeung as a couple again in an astrology-centered drama. The astrology was something new and different since I haven't seen a drama focused on that before. The plot was a typical love story but the ending has got to be one of the worst TVB endings ever. I have never been so angry and disappointed with a TVB ending until now.

Steven Ma: He's such a sacrificing and selfless character in here; however, I hated his hesitation when it came to love. I felt so bad for his character and Steven never disappoints in these kinds of roles. 5*****

Tavia Yeung: Her character was frustrating to watch at times but she was cute. Tavia did a good job, especially being torn between Steven and Michael. 5*****

Michael Tse: His character was likable in the beginning but I didn't like him so much after he broke up with Mandy Cho and became a couple with Tavia Yeung. His character was too arrogant and immature for my taste but Michael did a good job. 5*****

Mandy Cho: She has been improving a lot and I felt bad for her character. She was the perfect girlfriend but Michael didn't treasure her. 4****

Shermon Tang: Her character was annoying for plotting against Steven and Tavia. Although I understood her actions, it was still annoying. She still needs improvements but she wasn't bad in here. 3***

Steven+Tavia: Man, TVB must not want them to ever end up together in a drama because they have never had a happy ending in any of the three dramas they have been together (Land of Wealth, Sweetness in the Salt, and now Cupid Stupid). I actually like them together since they have good chemistry together. I hope that their next drama together would have a better ending than this. 4****

Tavia+Michael: They look okay together but I don't see why Tavia's character would choose Michael's character over Steven's character. I was so disappointed when they got together and I don't think Michael deserved Tavia. 2**

Steven+Tavia+Michael: I wonder if TVB was trying to portray this love triangle as the one in "Sweetness in the Salt" with Steven, Tavia, and Raymond Wong? I did not enjoy this love triangle at all and I wanted Tavia to end up with Steven instead. 2**

Tavia+Jack: Wow, Jack never ages because he looks younger than Tavia even though he is older than her in real life. They actually look good together but too bad, Jack's character was such a jerk. 3***

Michael+Mandy: I wanted them to end up together but after finishing CS, I'm glad that they didn't because Mandy's character deserved somebody better. 3***

Mandy+Ruco Chan: They were so underdeveloped but they looked nice together. I would have liked it better if they had more scenes together or at least just showed how they got together. 3***

Steven+Shermon: I understood why Shermon liked Steven so much but they didn't have any chemistry together. 2**

Themesong by Steven Ma: I usually like songs sung by Steven but I didn't like this one too much. It did grow on me a little as I watched the opening though. 2**

Beyond the Realm of Conscience

I had such high expectations for BTROC and although it was good, it was a little bit too unrealistic to be a classic. Overall, the plot was good and it kept me wanting to watch until the end but the characters in here were not that diverse and developed. I think BTROC would have ranked higher for me if it focused more on Tavia Yeung and less on Charmaine Sheh and the political problems.

Charmaine Sheh: I usually like any characters that Charmaine portrays but I didn't really like her in here because I thought she was an unrealistic character because she was too naive and nice. I was actually rooting for Tavia Yeung's character even though she was evil. Charmaine also doesn't look that attractive in here and her crying was really awkward to watch sometimes. I was a little bit bored when BTROC focused too much on Charmaine's character because she's such a goody two-shoes that you know somebody will come to save her when she's in trouble or she will change a bad person good. 4****

Tavia Yeung: I love Tavia in here! She's such a great actress because I had doubt when I first heard she was going to portray an evil character, but she blew me away with her performance! I didn't think she could look so sweet and evil at the same time. Although Tavia was evil, I was able to understand and sympathize with her actions because it is survival of the fittest in the kingdom. I wished BTROC would focus more on her character though. 5*****

Moses Chan: He portrayed a good king but I don't think there are any kings like him in real life or in history. His undying love for Charmaine was sweet though. 4****

Kevin Cheng: He should not act in ancient dramas period. Like Gallen Lo, their features don't look right in ancient clothes; they look so stiff. A nice character but he was boring to watch. 3***

Susan Tse: She's really great as evil characters. I wished she didn't die so early in here. 5*****

Michelle Yim: I like Michelle but her character is so irritating to watch in here. She's so stubborn and jealous that I felt that it was kind of a waste of her acting. 4****

Susanna Kwan: Wow, I didn't know she can act as such a gentle character. She's definitely a great actress because she made me forget about her bad roles in "Heart of Greed" and "Moonlight Resonance". 5*****

Cheung Kwok Keung: This is my favorite role of Cheung Kwok Keung so far. He's such a great character which is why I feel so bad for him at the end. 5*****

Selena Li: She looks pretty in here but her character is so badly developed. She turned all nice and perfect too sudden. She was more interesting to watch when she was spoiled, bratty, and going against Tavia. 4****

Yoyo Chen: I thought she was great as Tavia's maid since she nailed the evilness down. I think she will be a great actress when given the chancebecause she's pretty and versatile.

Charmaine+Kevin: I wanted them to end up together but they didn't really have any chemistry together in here. They were kind of boring to watch since they were a cliché couple. I'm happy they got their happy ending though...sort of? 3***

Charmaine+Moses: They have more chemistry together but I still didn't root for them because he's the emperor. 3***

Tavia+Moses: I liked them a lot better in "Moonlight Resonance" since I felt nothing for them in here. It's probably because they both used their marriage for personal gain. 2**

Moses+Selena: Another couple who also didn't have any chemistry together since they barely had any scenes together in the first place. 2**

Susanna+Cheung Kwok Keung: My favorite couple in here since they have chemistry and their love story was heartbreaking. 5*****

Michelle+Ram Tseung: They were sweet but a little bit awkward to watch. 4****

Sweetness in the Salt

I watched SITS because it reminded me a lot of "Safe Guards" and because of good reviews. SITS was not as good as "Safe Guards" but it's still a good, recent TVB drama. The cast was perfect and the characters developments were excellent. The plot was overall good, but it was slow at times so it would have been better if it was a tad shorter. The ending was a little bit disappointing but it's TVB, so what do you expect?

Tavia Yeung: This is pretty much Tavia's leading role since the plot revolves around her. I like her character since she was so smart and independent. I also love Tavia's look in here since she looked gorgeous. 5*****

Steven Ma: Not my favorite role of Steven's but at least his character was a person with flaws and faults. I usually think Steven is a fantastic actor but I wasn't impressed with his acting in here. Maybe it was because he was outshone by Raymond Wong? 4****

Raymond Wong: I love him in here! This is probably my favorite role and acting by him. He was convincing as a sick person and this is possibly his breakthrough role. I think he fits the sweet characters more than the evil ones. Although he is considered as a supporting role by TVB in here, I think he actually had more screen time than Steven. I can't wait to see Raymond in more dramas. 5*****

Kwok Fung: He was so cute, sweet, and funny as the lovable father. 5******

Ram Tseung: He was so funny in here. 5*****

Halina Tam: She was so annoying when she was blindly in love with Joel Chan's character, but I like her character when she realized her mistake and when she starts to like Ram's character. 5*****

Joel Chan: I feel kind of bad for him since he has been typecasted as a bad guy lately. I guess it's because he's pretty good at it. 4****

Pierre Ngo: He was extremely annoying in here since he was worthless and lazy. Pierre did a good job though. 4****

Chan Hoi Yee: Another annoying character (only Raymond's character is the good child in his family -_-) but Chan Hoi Yee fits the role. 4****

Tavia+Steven: I initially was rooting for them since they looked adorable together in pictures. I like them as a couple, but I like Tavia with Raymond a little bit better. 4****

Tavia+Raymond: They were so cute in here! 4****

Tavia+Steven+Raymond: This is probably one of the best love triangles in the history of TVB dramas. They all had chemistry together and if I was Tavia, I wouldn't know who to pick either. 5*****

Ram+Halina: Another cute couple in here. 4****

Halina+Joel: I think Halina looks older than Joel. I also wondered whether Joel's character even liked Halina's character since it seemed like he only used her. 1*

Joel+Chan Hoi Yee: 2**

Pierre+Devily Leung+Meini Cheung: I think Pierre's character doesn't deserve to have two wives in here since he doesn't even love them. Devily's acting is still stiff while Meini's is pretty good. 2**

Find the Light

FTL was interesting in the first half but it became so boring to watch in the second half. I also forced myself to finish this since I was attracted to Ron Ng.

Ron Ng: He looked cute in here and his acting wasn't too bad for his first leading role. 3***

Shirley Yeung: I was extremely annoyed with Shirley's character in here. 1*

Bosco Wong: I hated his character since he was such a jerk to Tavia's character. 1*

Tavia Yeung: She was so nice and pitiful in here. 4****

Leila Tong: She was adorable in here but too bad her role was small. 3***

Moonlight Resonance

MR is the "sequel" to "Heart of Greed" and it definitely lives up to its hype and expectations. I love MR and to me, it is the best modern drama so far for the year 2008. The plot is excellent, the cast is fantastic, and I was never once bored. I wished the editing was better though since some of the scenes didn't flow smoothly enough but I blame that on the fast production instead of the plot since it was filmed and released in the same year. Minus the bad editing, another flaw to MR is the ridiculous love triangle between Raymond Lam, Linda Chung, and Bosco Wong; however, it was a little bit better than the draggy love triangle between Linda Chung, Raymond Lam, and Yoyo Mung in “Heart of Greed”. I find MR a lot more interesting than "Heart of Greed" since it moves at a faster pace, focuses more on family, and has a lot more likable characters.

Ha Yu: I like Ha Yu better in here than in "Heart of Greed" since he eventually redeems himself. Ha Yu is a fantastic actor and I'm glad he won Best Actor since he showed many sides to this character. 5*****

Louise Lee: This character is practically like the one in "Heart of Greed" but I found her too nice in here; she seems more realistic in "Heart of Greed". Louise is the ultimate mother so no complaints here. 5*****

Michelle Yim: Michelle receives a larger role in here and she doesn't disappoint! I love how evil she is and I always look forward in watching her onscreen. Her wig doesn't do any justice to her looks though since it's so ugly. She's such a great villain though! 5*****

Susanna Kwan: She's more annoying than evil in here. I like how she was able to portray a softer side to her character near the end. 5*****

Lee Heung Kam: She's a great veteran and showed many sides to her character. 5*****

Moses Chan: I like him in here but it was frustrating to see him like Kate Tsui before liking Tavia Yeung. 5*****

Raymond Lam: His character is so sweet but I don't get why he loves Linda Chung so much. Linda is not that great of a character so it was annoying watching him so heartbroken over Linda's character. 5*****

Tavia Yeung: I love her in here! I have always like Tavia as an actress but this brought a whole new level of love for Tavia as an actress. I love all of her scenes and every time she cried, I wanted to cry with her. 5*****

Linda Chung: Such a drastic change from her role in "Heart of Greed". I thought her character in "Heart of Greed" was sort of annoying but at least her acting improved. She's just plain annoying in here since I found her character useless and she made me cringed every time she cried. This is one of Linda’s worst role and bad acting. 2**

Kate Tsui: She looks so unattractive in here and her role was extremely annoying. I don't think she looks evil enough but she was convincing when she pretended to be all nice and innocent. 3***

Fala Chen: She's really cute/adorable in here! I wished she had more screen time though. She was really believable as a mute girl and her acting has improved a lot. 4****

Bosco Wong: His acting was good but his role was not as likable as Raymond's in "Heart of Greed". 4****

Louis Yuen: He is a lot less annoying in here than in "Heart of Greed" but his role did get smaller. 5*****

Chris Lai: He was a lot more likeable in "Heart of Greed" and he barely had any screen time in here. His acting has gotten worse since I thought he was a lot better in "Heart of Greed". 2**

Vincent Wan: He's sort of cute but he's so wooden and stiff in here. 1*

Ha Yu+Louise: They really look like a real couple! 5*****

Ha Yu+Michelle: 4****

Susanna+Louis: They don't look like a couple at all and I wasn't even sure if Louis even loved Susanna until the very end. They were a pretty funny couple though. 2**

Moses+Tavia: I like them together but too bad they barely had any scenes together as a couple. I'm still not convinced that Moses loves Tavia as much as Tavia loves Moses though since it seems like they hooked up for the sake of having a happy ending. 4****

Moses+Kate: A superficial couple since they like each other because of looks (for Moses) and money (for Kate). 1*

Raymond+Linda: I thought they were an okay couple in "Heart of Greed" but I hated them in here. I rather have Raymond ended up with no one since Linda is not worthy of him; she's too selfish and weak. 1*

Raymond+Tracy Ip: They don't have any chemistry together but I actually liked them better as a couple than Raymond and Linda. 1*

Linda+Bosco: A better couple than Raymond and Linda since I think they deserve each other. 2**

Bosco+Claire Yiu: I felt so bad for Claire! 1*

Kate+Chris: This is a strange couple since I don't think either one of them truly love each other. They deserve each other though. 2**

Fala+Dexter Yeung: They don't match in terms of looks at all but their characters were cute together. 3***

Themesong by Susanna Kwan: Not as strong as the one in "Heart of Greed" but still good. 4****

Rating: 5***** This is definitely a classic!

Twin of Brothers

I was so excited to watch this since I love the main cast and by just looking at the pictures, I fell in love with Ron Ng and Leila Tong as a couple. Although not the greatest drama, since the political problems were kind of boring and the plot was sometimes draggy, the cast and the chemistries between them saved this drama.

Raymond Lam: 5*****

Ron Ng: He was still too stiff and "wooden" in some scenes. 3***

Tavia Yeung: I like her character in here since her actions were understandable. A lot of people didn't like her in here because she rejected Raymond for her family but I thought she was selfless and not blinded by love like every stereotypical woman in ancient dramas. Tavia also looked gorgeous in here. 5*****

Leila Tong: A lot of people also didn't like Leila in here because her character is too "boring" but how exciting can a priestess be if she's devoted to a life without male encounters and love. I thought Leila brought out many layers to this role that other young actresses probably couldn't do. I love her costume and hairstyle in here. 5*****

Li Qian: Everybody loves her in here but I thought her character was annoying and she's not attractive to the eyes. However, I don't think she's a bad actress. 3***

Nancy Wu: I don't really like Nancy but she was good in here. Her character wasn't all that likable to me but she was for practically everybody else though. 4****

Raymond+Tavia: They look really good together but too bad they didn't end up together. 4****

Raymond+Li Qian: Some of their scenes were cute but I still prefer Raymond with Tavia. 3***

A Pillow Case of Mystery

This is Annie Man’s last drama (for now) since she hasn’t done anything new after this, which is a shame. There is a new twist to crime-solving dramas and it was okay since TVB brought a lighthearted touch to solving crimes. The cases were sometimes easily solved but the process of finding out who the murderer(s) were are interesting.

The half first of FTF is really good but it sort of went downhill after that and the ending was unsatisfying.

Frankie Lam: This role reminded me too much of the one in The Herbalist's Manual. He did a better job in here though. 5*****

Raymond Lam: I like how this role was a little different with his hair turning white but it still reminded me of the one in Twin of Brothers. 5*****

Eternal Happiness

This is the first drama that I watched of Michelle Yip and Raymond Lam as leading stars and I like it a lot. It's such a cute and funny drama.

Michelle Yip: I love her in here and because of this role, I became her fan. 5*****

Raymond Lam: He was so convincing as a dumb boy, a total change from his role in A Step into the Past. If TVB is allowed to adapt Jin Yong's works in the future, Raymond will be the new, perfect Guo Jing. 5*****

Joe Ma: He was okay; I didn't really like his character though. 4****

Tavia Yeung: She's so pretty in here, a lot prettier than Michelle! I love her character and I became sort of a fan of Tavia after this. 5*****

Michelle+Raymond: My second favorite couple in TVB. They have a lot of chemistry and are just so cute together. 5*****

Michelle+Joe: Joe is too old for Michelle. They are better as friends than lovers. 2**

Dicey Business

I was so excited to watch this since it pretty much has all the actors and actresses I like and I like dramas about gambling. This drama was good but it dragged in the middle and there weren't enough scenes about gambling. It was kind of a disappointment for me.

Bobby Au Yeung: He's great as always but this character is similar to his other roles. 5*****

Michael Miu: I don't like his character since he was selfish and greedy. I also felt his acting was fake in here; he has done better in other roles. 4****

Jessica Hsuan: I love how she's taking on different roles but her character was so weak in love. She was convincing as a crazy gambler though! 5*****

Bosco Wong: He was so good in the first half as a social outcast but he was disappointing after he became "normal" again. He seems so bored most of the time. 4****

Tavia Yeung: Everybody loves her character in here but I didn't really like it. She was shallow and although she changed, I didn't think she was all that likable afterwards either. This role is overrated like the one in Heart of Greed. 4****

Such a big and good cast and it wasn't a disappointment (maybe the ending but was still good overall).

Moses Chan: A lovable role. No complaints. 5*****

Linda Chung: She improved heaps but was kind of overrated since I sometimes found her annoying. 4****

Raymond Lam: I couldn't hate his role nor could the rest of the world. 5*****

Bosco Wong: I don't get why people complained about him since his role was boring, not his acting. 4****

Tavia Yeung: Like Linda, Tavia was kind of overrated since it wasn't all that shocking or a controversial role, but she showed a lot of emotions. 5*****

Moses+Linda: Sad that Linda didn't choose Moses until the end; such a pure relationship. They look weird together though. 4****

Fathers and Sons

I love Bobby Au Yeung and Wong Hei's acting so I decided to give this a try. It was kind of boring in the beginning, the middle was excellent and touching, but the ending was terrible.

Bobby Au Yeung: A typical role for Bobby but he was excellent nevertheless. 5*****

Wong Hei: All I can say is wow! I never knew Wong Hei can be so feminine; a breakthrough role indeed. 5*****

Jacky Wong: He was so cute and adorable! He has potential to be a great actor when he grows up! 4****

Tavia Yeung: One of her better roles that confirms me that she is a good actress. 5*****

Bobby+Yoyo: I liked them together ever since "Armed Reaction IV" so it was great seeing them together again. 5*****

Wong Hei+Tavia: I wanted them to end up together but it was understandable when they didn't. I thought Tavia didn't like Wong Hei because of love but more because of respect on how he loves his daughter so much. 4****
