Just Love II

I didn't know "Just Love" was popular enough to get a sequel so it was surprising to hear about this when it first came out. I watched this mainly for Jessica Hsuan and to see how Sunny Chan's character will change when he gets into an "accident". JHII was for the most part a little bit better than the first one; however, some of the problems/conflicts in here were pretty draggy.

Jessica Hsuan: She was fabulous as always. 5*****

Sunny Chan: He's the perfect husband and father! I like how he was able to portray the not-so-perfect husband in a couple of episodes. 5*****

Joyce Tang: She was pretty convincing as a woman with a mental disorder. I wished she had a better hairstyle though; she looked really pretty with "long hair" near the end. 5*****

Johnson Lee: His character was a jerk but you can't hate him. 5*****

Natalie Tong: She wasn't as interesting as in the first one but she was still nice to watch. 5*****

Ken Wong: This is my first time seeing him in a drama and he did a pretty good job. 4****

Jessica+Sunny: 4****

Joyce+Johnson: 3***

Natalie+Ken: 2**

Selena+Patrick: It's sad that they were only guest stars in here, but it was probably better that way since there's nothing really left to develop with them. 3***

Instrumental Music: It was cheery and upbeat. 4****

Rating: 3*** I hope there wouldn't be another sequel.

I watched this purely for Jessica Hsuan but even Jessica couldn't save AHOL since the plot was weak and draggy.

Parental Guidance II

The sequel to PG is not as funny as the first one since the problems can be repetitive but PGII is still good as a drama by itself. I still laughed a lot and the characters are still lovable.

Adrian Pang: He is still as funny as ever. 5*****

Jessica Hsuan: She kept her hairstyle from "The Drive of Life" so she doesn't look as pretty as in the first PG but her acting is still excellent. 5*****

Fang Rong: She's still adorable and so mature. 4****

Bryan Chung: He's not as good as Kyle Chan but he still did a good job. 3***

Jessica Cuipa: She is even cuter in here! 4****

Chua En Lai: He's so funny; I crack up every time he's onscreen! 5*****

Kenneth Tsang: 5*****

Lok Meng Chue: 5*****

Jason Chan: He's so hot and his character is a lot more likable in here. 5*****

Adrian+Jessica: They are still a cute couple. 4****

Kenneth+ Lok Meng Chue: They get more perverted and kinky as the drama progresses (LOL!). 3***

Jason Chan+Pam Oei: A mismatched but funny couple. 3***

Chua En Lai+Rosalind Pho: 3***

Rating: 4**** This is also extremely short so it's not draggy at all. There are rumors that there might be another sequel and I'll be happy to watch another sequel; however, this ending was good and nothing really needs to be expanded but we'll see.

Parental Guidance

PG is an English-speaking Singaporean drama that is very hilarious with a somewhat cliché plot, themes, and characters. This is my first Singaporean drama and my first English-speaking drama with a cast consisting of only Asian actors/actresses. I really like PG since it's very lighthearted and comical but also dealing with family and relationship problems. I find this to be a lot like comedy dramas like "Virtues of Harmony I and II" and the plot to be like "A Handful of Love" since they both deal with a couple adopting their relative's children but PG is a hundred times better than AHOL.

Adrian Pang: He's really cute for his age and he's a natural when it comes to comedy. 5*****

Jessica Hsuan: I always knew Jessica knew English but I didn't know that she is fluent in it so it was a nice surprise to watch a drama where I can actually hear her real voice. She has such a cute British accent too. She's always a great actress no matter what language she speaks in. 5*****

Fang Rong: She's adorable and so mature. 4****

Kyle Chan: He reminds me a lot of the character Jordan in "The Bernie Mac Show" but a lot cuter. 4****

Jessica Cuipa: She has got to be the cutest child actress ever! 4****

Chua En Lai: He's so funny in here! 5*****

Kenneth Tsang: Another Hong Kong actor so I was kind of surprised to see him in here since I didn't know he could speak English. His English is really good too (practically all of the actors/actresses in PG are). I missed seeing him in TVB dramas so it was great seeing him in here. 5*****

Lok Meng Chue: She's funny too. 5*****

Adrian+Jessica: A cute couple although they're always bickering with each other. 4****

Kenneth+Lok Meng Chue: A cute but disturbing couple at the same time. 3***

Jessica+Jason Chan: Jason is cute so he made a pretty cute couple with Jessica too. 3***

Rating: 4**** Not the greatest drama since the plot is nothing refreshing but the comedy is pretty funny; a nice watch when you want comedies. It's extremely short so it's not draggy and I can't wait to watch the sequel since the ending was left open-ended!

Witness To A Prosecution

This can be considered as the ancient version of "Forensics Heroes" but I like this one a lot better since the cases were a lot more interesting.

Bobby Au Yeung: 5*****

A Recipe for the Heart

This is a comedy on cooking and for the most part, it was funny. There were some draggy scenes though, especially when it comes to Bobby Au Yeung and Esther Kwan's relationship and Lydia Shum and Paul Chun's relationship.

Esther Kwan: 5*****

Louis Koo: 5*****

Life Made Simple

A.K.A. Square Pegs II since it's the modern day sequel of Square Pegs. This is not as good as the first one since it's was draggy and boring in some scenes.

Roger Kwok: He saved this drama since he was once again fantastic. 5*****

Jessica Hsuan: 5*****

Leila Tong: She played the "evil" role well. 5******

Bosco Wong: His character was a jerk to Jessica. 4****

Angela Tong: A breakthrough role since she played an ugly character. 4****

Roger+Jessica: They were not as cute as in the first one since the relationship would only work in ancient times. 3***

Square Pegs

I had little expectations when I began watching this since I thought it was just going to be another comedy. However, it's so funny, sweet, and refreshing to watch; a must-watch! The ending was horrible but it can be forgiven.

Just Love

I watched this mainly because of Jessica Hsuan and it was okay but it dragged near the end.

Jessica Hsuan: She always portrays this kind of role but she does such a great job at it. 5*****

Sunny Chan: He was so lovable! 5*****

Dave Wong: This is my first time watching him act and he wasn't too bad. 4****

Selena Li: This is her first acting role and she wasn't too bad. Her character was really evil though. 3***

Natalie Tong: She was funny. 4****

Selena+Patrick Tang: I don't get why they are rumored to be dating in real life. 2**

Rating: 2.5** It could have been better though. There's going to be a sequel but what else is there to talk about? Maybe they're just re-using the same cast in a similar plot like in "Central Affairs II" and "Heart of Greed II".

Dicey Business

I was so excited to watch this since it pretty much has all the actors and actresses I like and I like dramas about gambling. This drama was good but it dragged in the middle and there weren't enough scenes about gambling. It was kind of a disappointment for me.

Bobby Au Yeung: He's great as always but this character is similar to his other roles. 5*****

Michael Miu: I don't like his character since he was selfish and greedy. I also felt his acting was fake in here; he has done better in other roles. 4****

Jessica Hsuan: I love how she's taking on different roles but her character was so weak in love. She was convincing as a crazy gambler though! 5*****

Bosco Wong: He was so good in the first half as a social outcast but he was disappointing after he became "normal" again. He seems so bored most of the time. 4****

Tavia Yeung: Everybody loves her character in here but I didn't really like it. She was shallow and although she changed, I didn't think she was all that likable afterwards either. This role is overrated like the one in Heart of Greed. 4****

Bobby+Jessica: They never seem like a couple to me but more like best friends. 3***

Michael+Jessica: I honestly thought this was a horrible couple. 1*

Bosco+Tavia: They're cute together but I'm still not really a fan of them together. 4****

A Step into the Past

This is my favorite Louis Koo's drama and sadly, this is his last drama he has done (for now). The cast is pretty well known and they all did a pretty good job except for Sonija Kwok and Michelle Saram. ASITP is really funny and addicting to watch since it pretty much has everything in here. Although there are draggy scenes, they can be forgiven since as a whole, the drama was pretty much perfect.

Louis Koo: I love him in here although I wished his character wasn’t so obsessed with Sonija Kwok. 5*****

Jessica Hsuan: I love her in here too but she was more lovable in the second half since she was so stubborn and naïve in the beginning. 5*****

Raymond Lam: For his second big role (his first “leading” role was in "A Recipe for the Heart"), he was so good! I started to like him in here since his acting was pretty much flawless! 5*****

Sonija Kwok: I disliked Sonija because of this role since she was so stiff and I didn’t think she was very pretty. I’m glad her acting has improved throughout the years. 1*

Joyce Tang: Her role was small in here but she was excellent for the minimal screen time she had. 5*****

Kwong Wa: He’s always a good actor so no complaints here. I don’t think he’s acting anymore, which is a shame. 5*****

Michelle Saram: Although she was bad in "Meteor Garden II", she’s even worse in here since she was pretty much like a wooden person. 1*

Louis+Jessica: They are the best couple in all of TVB couples since they have so much chemistry together! They are legendary together so I just wish they would co-star in just one more drama and my life would be partially complete. Or even better, they should just hook up in real life! 5*****

Louis+Sonija: I don’t like this couple at all; it would have been better if Louis only ended up with Jessica. 1*

Themesong by Louis Koo: I love it even if Louis is not that great of a singer… 5*****

Rating: 5***** This is a classic and a must-watch!

Actresses Part I

Favorites:
  1. Jessica Hsuan - this is sad but I don't even remember when I started to like Jessica since I watched so many of her dramas but I guess I starting to like her in the year 1999 with dramas like Detective Investigative Files IV, Game of Deceit, and Witness to Persecution.
  2. Gigi Lai - I love Gigi in The Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber 2000.
  3. Charmaine Sheh - Although I like Charmaine because of The Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain 1999, I won't watch this drama again.
  4. Leila Tong - I initially didn't like Leila because of her role in Square Pegs; however, she became one of my favorites after I watched The Legend of Love.
  5. Michelle Yip - I love Michelle in Eternal Happiness and Lofty Water Verdant Bow but that's pretty much it. Although I hate to admit this, her later dramas are not as great except for Hero/World's Finest. I feel like she doesn't have the "spark" that she had in EH and LWVB. Maybe I just need to watch her newer works since I last seen Michelle in Central Affairs II and I wasn't too impressed.
  6. Mimi Lo - I know Mimi is not really famous but she won me ever since I saw her in The Battle Against Evil. Although she's not as promoted as the other actresses, I always enjoy watching her on screen. Plus, she's really nice in real life.
  7. Annie Man - I'm sad that Annie is not in dramas anymore since she's a really good actress, especially in Coincidentally.
