A Review of 2009 Part I: TVB 42nd Anniversary Award Nominations

Best Actor
  1. Bowie Lam (The Gem of Life): This is my favorite role of Bowie's up to date but it's not award-worthy.
  2. Joe Ma (When Easterly Showers Falls on the Sunny West): Gave up watching
  3. Michael Miu (E.U.): He was good but not award-worthy.
  4. Wayne Lai (Rosy Business): He deserves this after so many years.
  5. Steven Ma (Sweetness in the Salt): A likable role but not award-worthy.
  6. Kevin Cheng (Burning Flame III): Gave up watching
  7. Wong Hei (Burning Flame III): Gave up watching
  8. Bosco Wong (Burning Flame III): Gave up watching
  9. Chin Ka Lok (A Bride for a Ride): Gave up watching
  10. Dayo Wong (You're Hired): A likable role but not award-worthy.
  11. Roger Kwok (DIE Again): A likable role but not award-worthy.
  12. Damien Lau (In the Chamber of Bliss): Currently watching
  13. Moses Chan (Beyond the Realm of Conscience): Currently watching

Who will TVB give the award to: I'm pretty sure it will be Wayne Lai since "Born Rich" is not doing that well in ratings and Moses Chan has already won this.

  1. Maggie Siu (The Gem of Life): A likable role but not award-worthy.
  2. Gigi Lai (The Gem of Life): This was not Gigi's best acting.
  3. Ada Choi (The Gem of Life): She was fantastic.
  4. Theresa Mo (Off Pedar): Skipped
  5. Liza Wang (When Easterly Showers falls on the Sunny West): Gave up watching
  6. Kathy Chow (E.U.): A likable role but not award-worthy.
  7. Sheren Tang (Rosy Business): She deserves this after so many years.

Who I want to Win: A lot of actors in this category deserve to win but I'm rooting for Michael Tse or Raymond Wong to win.
Who will TVB give the award to: I'm pretty sure Michael Tse unless they want more actors from "Rosy Business" to win so Pierre Ngo might also win this.

Best Supporting Actress
  1. Linda Chung (The Gem of Life): She has been improving but she's still not ready for Best Supporting Actress.
  2. Elanne Kong (E.U.): A likable role but not award-worthy.
  3. Susan Tse (Rosy Business): She was fantastic.
  4. Kiki Sheung (Rosy Business): She was fantastic.
  5. Kara Hui (Rosy Business): She was fantastic.
  6. Nancy Wu (Rosy Business): A likable role but not award-worthy.
  7. Joyce Tang (Just Love II): A likable role but not award-worthy.

  2. Koni Lui (You're Hired): I couldn't tell because her role was really small in YH.
  3. Catherine Chau (The Gem of Life, The King of Snooker, A Bride for a Ride): I didn't really notice her in any of the dramas.
  4. Sharon Chan (Pages of Treasures, Born Rich): She improved.
  5. Aimee Chan (Off Pedar, E.U., Burning Flame III): She improved.
Who shouldn't have been nominated: Koni Lui

Who should have been nominated as well: Macy Chan

Best Drama Series
  1. The Gem of Life: 4****
  2. Off Pedar: Skipped; It's too long and I don't know a lot of people from the cast.
  3. When Easter Showers fall on the Sunny West: Gave up watching; I heard it was a good drama but I don't really like Joe Ma or this time period.
  4. Pages of Treasures: 3***
  5. E.U.: 4****
  6. The Winter Melon Tale: Skipped; Sunny Chan and Louisa So were not enough for to watch this drama since the plot sounded bad.
  7. The King of Snooker: Skipped; Adam Cheng, Niki Chow, and Joyce Tang were not enough for to watch this drama since the plot sounded bad.
  8. Man in Charge: 3***
  9. Rosy Business: 4.5****
  10. Just Love II: 3***
  11. The Threshold of a Persona: 3.5***
  12. Sweetness in the Salt: 4****
  13. Burning Flame III: Gave up watching; I like Wong Hei, Kevin Cheng, and Bosco Wong but the plot is not that great.
  14. A Bride for a Ride: Gave up watching; It was too ridiculous for me.
  15. You're Hired: 3.5***
  16. D.I.E. Again: 4****
  17. The Stew of Life: Skipped; Louise Lee, Christine Ng, and Fala Chen were not enough for to watch this drama since the plot sounded bad.
  18. In the Chamber of Bliss: Currently watching
  19. Beyond the Realm of Conscience: Currently watching
  20. Born Rich: Currently watching
Which one I want to Win: Probably Beyond the Realm of Conscience but I have to finish the other ones first to decide.
Which one will TVB give the award to: Either Rosy Business or Beyond the Realm of Conscience.
