The Seventh Day

I was so excited to watch this since I really love Kevin Cheng and Niki Chow as a couple! Bad ratings and reviews made me kind of disappointed since I really hoped that this will be a great drama, but I still enjoyed watching it nevertheless. The first few episodes were kind of slow and cliché but it got interesting in the middle and the end. I like how the story was told in a comic-style since it was something new, but I don't like the lighting in this because it made everything so blurry; the lighting was better fitted in "Under the Canopy of Love". I also didn't really like how Kevin and Niki's storyline didn't really connect with Bosco Wong and Natalie Tong's plot. However, it was a nice switch between the two stories. A lot of people didn't like how this was done since it felt like watching two different dramas and I kind of agree but I don't think I can watch any of the stories separately as two different dramas since it would of been extremely boring. For instance, watching just Kevin and Niki's story would have bored me to death if there weren't the comedic moments between Bosco and Natalie. On the other hand, just watching Bosco and Natalie's story would seem too ridiculous. Therefore, each plot balanced each other out: Kevin and Niki's was the serious and romantic one while Bosco and Natalie's was the funny and cute one. This drama is kind of underrated since I liked this one better than "Under the Canopy of Love" and the ending was nicely done.

Kevin Cheng: I absolutely adore him in here! He is such a caring and loving boyfriend/husband. Although he was kind of a jerk in the beginning, his character was developed and matured really well. I like Kevin's role here better than in "Under the Canopy of Love". 5*****

Niki Chow: She's really lovable and cute! She can be kind of annoying for being too nice and naive in here but I still like this role better than the one in "Under the Canopy of Love" since in "Under the Canopy of Love", she was too insecure. Her crying was excellent and her dog Jack is extremely cute, lovable, and smart! 5*****

Bosco Wong: His character is such a jerk but he redeemed himself at the end; his role was cuter and sweeter in "Under the Canopy of Love". He's really good in comedic roles. 5*****

Natalie Tong: Her character was too selfish in the beginning but it grows on you. She's looks so pretty without her glasses and weird beanies/hats. She's improving so much! 5*****

Kevin+Niki: They have so much chemistry that it can't be described in words!!! I really wish they would hook up in real life even though Kevin is ten years older than Niki... They look so good together and they didn't disappoint me at all in here. I was kind of disappointed with how their relationship was developed in the beginning though since it seem so fast, out of nowhere, and superficial, but their relationship developed really nicely in the middle and the end. Some of their scenes also made me cried (which is good since I rarely cry when it comes to love stories) and their kisses were so romantic! 5***** (They deserve more than five stars though!)

Bosco+Natalie: They are hilarious and cute together but I was kind of disappointed with them near the end. Their kisses felt kind of weird to me since Bosco was practically eating Natalie's mouth; Bosco needs to tone it down (lol!). Their relationship was also kind of like Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey's in the movie "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days". I would like to watch another drama with them as a couple again though. 4****

Kevin+Selena Li: They looked okay together but there weren't really any chemistry. 3***

Bosco+Charmaine Li: They also looked okay together but Bosco is too tall for her and he also looked a lot older than her. I liked Charmaine in the beginning but then she got too annoying, clingy, and selfish. 3***

Themesong by Kevin Cheng: When I first heard it, I didn't really like it but it's growing on me. It's too slow and sad for my taste though. 3***

Rating: 3.5*** A lot better than I thought. Although cliché and predictable at times, it was nicely done. A lot of people like to compare this to Korean dramas but I actually like this better since it moved at a quicker pace and it's not as depressing. When comparing this to "Under the Canopy of Love", this has a better ending while "Under the Canopy of Love" had a better beginning.
